New Staff
I want to welcome some new staff that will begin their Crescent School District careers this year. Norma Van Orman (1st grade) Maggie Fricker (2nd grade) and Corina Welcker (HS English and Yearbook) to our staff. We have also hired some new para-educator and support staff. Loni Buchanan and Kati Herreid are beginning the year as official employees of the district. Kendra Francis and Holly Rose are having their duties expanded and will be working on campus all day this year.

Work Projects on Campus

Our staff has been busy this summer with a number of projects and many of them are going to keep staff busy right up to the first day of school.

We have replaced most of our door knobs to provide a safer and quicker way to lock doors in case of an emergency and better access for handicapped users of our facilities. The most important outside door knobs are completed and we will continue work on the others during the fall. This project was funded with funds from the Capital Projects Levy that was passed by voters in February of 2015.

The gym bathrooms have been completed and will be open on the first day of school they have a new clean fresh look including tile, new fixtures and the floors have been repainted.  Next summer we will upgrade the bathrooms in the High School Locker area. This is also a Capital Project funded by the Capital Projects Levy.

Last winter was very hard on some of our sidewalks and two in particular needed repair. We were finally able to complete an agreement with a contractor earlier this week, so they will begin next week replacing and repairing a sidewalk that is at the bottom on the ramp walking down from the gym parking lot towards the elementary building. Additionally, the sidewalk into the west entrance of the library is being replaced and widened.

We are replacing some aged and worn out heaters and those should be done during the month of September. The Band Room, a portable office area and the new weight room will get new heaters during the month of September.

Once, again, welcome each and every student and their families.  We look forward to this new year with promise and excitement.
